GUESS WHAT YOU DID!

You confiscated thousands of dollars in equity from homeowners who lost their homes to sheriff sale.

First, you incorrectly assessed their homes. Then you applied the millage rate based on their incorrect assessment.

Then when they couldn’t pay the taxes, penalties and interest, you sent the sheriff to post a notice on their door!

You placed a lien on their property and on their credit record—which will damage their credit for 7 years even after their home is taken from them and sold at sheriff sale.

You took thousands of dollars in their home’s equity from them beyond their so called ‘debt to society.’

You disrupted their lives, perhaps even shortened their lives by traumatizing them.

Are you proud of yourself? You protest... I didn’t do any of these things!

But, you’re wrong. You are the government... I am the government... so we all must bear the responsibility of allowing our government to continue this disgrace. When we allow such injustices to destroy the lives of our fellow citizens, and then we must bear responsibility for these governmental actions.

Just voting against them is not enough.

Sheriff sales are regularly advertised in the newspapers. Speculators (vultures) swarm in to pick the bones clean while enriching themselves. But those of us who allow it to occur again and again and again—30,000 to 40,000 times every year throughout Pennsylvania-- are equally guilty.

How can we be so cold and uncaring?

Listen... do you hear protests coming from our citizens who supposedly stand for justice? I hear nothing... but perhaps the sobbing of someone just evicted.

Who will become angry enough to confront the politicians at their political rallies? Who will call them what they are... uncaring, arrogant, self-serving money grubbers who don’t give a damn about these thousands of citizens being brutalized by a corrupt property tax system that the politicians want to see continue or haven't the courage to change.

Let us go about our business. We're busy aren't we? Too busy to care. Try to wash your hands of these corrupt practices.

Convince yourself that it is someone else’s problem. But it’s not. We are our brother and sisters' keepers and we will one day be held accountable not only for what we did in life... but for what we should have done... and didn’t.

I HAVE LIVED IN PENNSYLVANIA MY ENTIRE LIFE 59 YEARS, BUT THE WAY THINGS ARE GOING I PROBABLY WILL HAVE TO SELL MY HOME THAT I LOVE, BECAUSE WHEN I RETIRE I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PUT ASIDE $600-$1,000 A MONTH TO PAY MY PROPERTY TAXES. I RESENT THE FACT THAT OUR HIGHLY PAID POLITICIANS CAN GIVE THEMSELVES WONDERFUL RAISES BUT YET MOST OF THE PEOPLE STRUGGLING TO PAY THEIR PROPERTY TAXES GET APPROXIMATELY 2% RAISE EACH YEAR. I ALSO RESENT THAT THE TEACHERS UNION MEDICAL CARE AND THEIR PENSIONS ARE 100% BETTER THAN MINE, AND I WORK FOR A FORTUNE 500 COMPANY. WE IN PENNSYLVANIA ARE GETTING SCREWED LEFT AND RIGHT, BUT THE POLITICANS ARE NICE AND COZY IN THEIR BIG HOMES, DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THEIR MEDICAL INSURANCE AND THEIR PENSIONS, BECAUSE THEY GET TAKEN CARE OF UNTIL THEY DIE. WHATEVER HAPPENED WITH EVERYBODY TAKING CARE OF EACH OTHER. WHERE IS THE LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR, AND HELP EVERYONE, NOT JUST THE RICH AND THE CROOKS......
