The Monkey On Our Back

For thirty years the homeowners and taxpayers of Pennsylvania as well as the governors of both parties, the legislators, school boards, county and municipal officials have had the property tax monkey on their backs. Thousands of hours of discussion and debate, millions of taxpayers dollars have been expended trying to find a solution to the property tax nightmare.

Our current governor and current legislators have the opportunity to once and for all solve this problem and make Pennsylvania the most attractive state in the nation to own a home and establish a residence.

ONLY ONE PLAN IS THE PERMANENT SOLUTION TO HOMEOWNER PROPERTY TAXES IN PENNSYLVANIA. ONLY ONE PLAN WILL MEAN THE GOVERNORS AND LEGISLATORS WILL NEVER AGAIN NEED TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND CAN FOCUS THEIR TIME AND ENERGIES ON OTHER ISSUES FOR THE BETTERMENT OF PENNSYLVANIA.

ONLY ONE PLAN COMPLETELY AND PERMANENTLY ABOLISHES ALL PROPERTY TAXES ON ALL PRIMARY RESIDENCES (HOMESTEADS AND FARMSTEADS) IN PENNSYLVANIA. The STOP PRIMARY RESIDENCE PROTECTION PLAN.

SENATORS: Please speak with Senator Sean Logan or Senator Jane Orie about SB 717-718.

REPRESENTATIVES: Please speak with Rep. Keith McCall or Rep. Marc Gergely about the soon to be introduced STOP legislation in the House.

HOMEOWNERS: Want the property tax monkey off your back once and for all? No more phony, incorrect property assessments; no more assessment hearings; no more school, county or municipal property taxes to pay. No more sheriff sales and stolen equity for so called 'delinquent property taxes.' No more property tax escrow payments as part of a mortgage. For the first time in history you will truly own your own home...not merely rent it from the school board, and county and municipal officials. Ask your State Senator and Representative to support the STOP LEGISLATION TO ABOLISH ALL PROPERTY TAXES ON PRIMARY RESIDENCES.

Note: The STOP plan was found to be fiscally sound and viable in a study conducted by the Legislative Budget & Finance Committee. Data from the PA Revenue Department concurs with the LBFC findings. Please share this article with everyone you can!

Let me start by offering congratulations to Bob Logue for the Property Tax Reform Comparison Charts, and the article "The Monkey On Our Back". This information is all that is required for existing, and first-time users of this website.

30 years without resolve! As long as New Jersey and New York residents can move to Pennsylvania to reduce their Property Tax, the majority of our legislators will not adopt the STOP Plan. What are our options? I will list a few. 1) We can continue to vote out of office, the legislators who do not support the STOP Plan. 2) Homeowners who do not have children in the Public School System should relocate out of Pennsylvania. There are many states in the nation that offer a better deal. You can't beat Louisiana at a Median Property Tax of $175 per year. 3) Lets get Creative! How about designing houses that allow relatives to live peacefully under one roof. The Property Tax Bill could then be divided amongst 5 or more individuals versus one, two, or three individuals. Remember J.R. Ewing, and the Ewing clan from the show "Dallas". The Ewing Family managed property taxes efficiently, not to mention all the other cost reductions associated with Home Ownership. This logic is known as Economies of Scale.

"I Am Only One, But I Can Make A Difference." Well, I must exit now, so that I can call my In-Laws. I will ask them if they are ready to move in with us, provided they are ready to split the costs.

This afternoon I called Senator Browne's office (610-821-8468)and Rep. Mantz'office(610-366-2330).
I asked a simple question. Does the Senator or the Representative support the STOP Plan? Mike from Senator's Browne's office and JoAnn from Rep. Mantz's office both stated that they would have to get back to me. I then asked if that would be within two weeks? Mike stated yes, and JoAnn did not know. By 8-23-07, I will know if I will be voting for either of these gentlemen in the next election.

Dear Friends:

The Monkey on Our Back is a great slogan---and the Monkey is real cute, too! But let me offer another slogan "The Boots on Our Face."

Initially, this article states that this Monkey has been around for thirty years, but that's not quite correct. It's been around for 60 years!

In reality, this Monkey was bred in 1947, the year the General Assembly enacted the Gestapo-like Real Estate Tax Sale Law of 1947. You all ought to read that piece of legislation, and then you can decide for yourself what kind of politicians are representing you and your families, or how soon you can expect any type of property tax relief at all. But don't hold your breath waiting on it!

It's been more than four years now since the STOP Plan was put before the dolts in Harrisburg, and in the interim, thousands of Pennsylvanians have felt the weight of the Boots on their faces. Thousands have lost what they thought were "their houses." And believe it or not, millions of Pennsylvanians still think they own "their houses." And you talk about stupidity?

Weight broke the Mule's back, and the longer we sit around "weighting" on the same type leeching politicians who bred this property tax Monkey in the first place to suddenly kill it because it is eating you up, is like asking the bear in the woods who is chasing you and your friend; to eat you last.

But, so much for that! My only question to anyone who might be able to proffer a sensible answer is this "How long do you want me to wait for the politicians to get their boots off my face, and leave me alone?
