Letter from James Worthington to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Gentlemen:
Please take the time to check out www.grandoldusa.com and see the light!

If this fiasco continues, there will be no one left to pay real estate property taxes. There will be no residential property owners. They will have all moved to West Virginia, or somewhere else. Or, they will be living in public housing because they cannot pay their property taxes. Or, they will be living on the street because their home was confiscated and sold for unpaid taxes and they are not eligible for public housing. Isn't public housing supported by taxpayers? What if there were no taxpayers...........

An excerpt from your article:
Comparisons of those values to recent sales show they meet internationally accepted assessment standards for fairness and accuracy, according to studies done by county Chief Assessment Officer Deborah Bunn, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and assessment expert Robert Gloudemans of Phoenix.
sets the tone for the whole mess. There is NOTHING fair in taxing owner-occupied residential property that people have worked their lives for, raised their children in, and finally trying to retire in, only to have some bureaucrat (who is paid by tax money) establish a "fair and accurate" assessment. Then, some other bureaucrat (also paid by tax money) declares the property eligible for confiscation because of unpaid property taxes. Then, yet another bureaucrat (also paid by tax money) affects the legal theft of the property and sells it a sheriff's sale.

Please check out the S.T.O.P. (Stop Taxing Our Property) solution. There are more than 110,000 Pennsylvania citizens that have signed petitions demanding something be done about the disgraceful taxing system. There are many legislators, Republicans and Democrats, that have introduced and supported S.T.O.P. legislation. Unfortunately, the Governor and crew are trying to convince Pennsylvania that gambling will be the solution to all our woes. Even if that were true, it will be far too late for scores of people who will either lose their homes or move elsewhere.

Thank you.
James Worthington

Dear Mr.Worthington:

Your article addressing property taxes and their accompanying ills submitted to the Post-Gazette is most interesting. Unfortunately, it simply rehashes more of what has already been said
about this cancerous tumor sucking the very life out of millions of Pennsyvanians.

I am currently testing the consttutionality of the Real Estate Tax Sale Law of 1947 that gives local yokels the illegal authority to sell a citizen's house for delinquent property taxes.

If perhaps you know of an attorny who is not afraid to lose his "license", you may want to ask him or her the following questions:

1. Is the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania still valid?

2. Are public schools public uses?

3. Are school property taxes used to fund public schools?

4. What sections of the Constitution give school boards the power to tax or to provide for the maintenance and support of public education?

5. Since public schools are public uses, how can any governmental body "take" a citizen's private property and use ot for a public purpose without "first" paying that citizen, jusr compensation? And further, ask the attorney if Article I, Section 10 of the Pennsylvania Costitution prohibits such action by a giovernemnt entity (a tax claim bureau in this instance).

If you would provide to me your personal contact information; phone number, etc., I would be more than happy to discuss with you my personal observations on the illegality of the current property tax scehemes in Pennsylvania.

Dear Mr. Worthington:

In my haste to respond to your article, I negected to re-check the spelling and syntax of my response. I trust, however, that you got the gist of my message.

If perhaps you have not already done so, you may want to type in your browser; pacleansweep.com. This is the group that is striving to oust every member of the current General Assembly. This group shares your common concerns and by joining together, you both would build a formidable voice for change in Pennsylvania. Give it a whirl!

Wrong on taxes!
Voted against considering a new plan to abolish all property taxes.”
• “Voted against taxing big coal companies to help cut our property taxes.”
Voted against a plan to slash property taxes by 50%.”

“Voted against providing further wage and property tax relief that we will get under the Governor’s plan.”

Voted to allow your local government to more than quadruple your occupational taxes.”

“Voted to repeal the cell phone tax, but only if all of the money went to the cell phone companies, and not to you”

“Voted to actually cap spending on vital military, National Guard, emergency management and police spending – so he could cut taxes for businesses.”
Its time for a leader that will work for you not against you!

Letter to the editor,

A new trend in Pennsylvania Home Equity Theft industry is hiring law firms accounts by school districts or local governments to handle debt collection. These agencies attach huge costs to a home owner;'s alleged taxes, interest and penalties already imposed by the government and then DO NOT place the properties in sheriff sales based on how long the debt has been owed.

Instead they cherry pick the properties that are most likely to sell, so they can generate quick revenue for themselves and the school district or government. This means that some homes will be sold at sheriff sale quickly, while others will languish since they are less desirables properties. All of this added corruption made possible by Governor Rendell and the state legislator which approved of these changes.

Ask your legislators how they voted on this legislation and if they approve of the murky practices the legislation created.
Sincerely,
John Czekanski
